I cannot even put into words how delicious these bars are! They are so much like the real rice krispie treats unlike the Kellogs brand which to me is a bit dry and tasteless. The bars are soft and gooey and the treats are so sweet. I'll be honest - it is so hard to eat just one, but if you are really following a diet plan, one is a great treat and can be very filling. I found mine at my local Walmart and they were $1.50 for a box of 8. Lately I haven't been able to find them so I hope they still carry them. They are on Little Debbie's website - www.littledebbie.com.

I'm Baaack!!!

I know it's been a while since I posted, but I'm a Grad student and school and other ventures I'm working on totally monopolized my time. Unfortunately over the holidays I also fell off the wagon, well not just fell off, bounced down the street and then was run over by the wagon. I ate like it was going out of style and now, I'm having to start over. But the good thing is I found a lot of new and exciting foods that will help me on my quest for a new summer body.

Today while I was in Walmart I found new Weight Watchers chocolate brownies. There were four in a box and they were $2.50. I normally wouldn't pay that price for only four, but I thought I would try them as an occasional treat. I absolutely love the oatmeal raisin cookies so I was looking forward to trying the brownies. The brownies are a pretty decent size (I'll post pictures later). The texture is okay, they are definitely not fudgy (if that's a word). They actually seem kind of tough. The taste is just okay. It's the kind of snack that if you are not a chocolate person and just like this kind of snack every once in a while, this may satisfy you. I looooove brownies and would eat them every day if I could, so I was disappointed. Overall they are okay, but I won't be buying them again. I'll just wait until I can splurge and bake some "regular" brownies.

Surprisingly Delicious!!

I don't like fig newtons. The texture, the taste just was never appealing to me. My sister actually suggested I try the Newtons Fruit Crisps and assured me I would like them. So on my next trip to Walmart I happened to find them. I had a choice between Mixed Berry and Apple Cinnamon and I chose the latter. They were so tasty! The outside was crispy with a sugar like sprinkling. The filling was apple but I didn't taste cinnamon, or maybe that was cinnamon on the outside. They kind of reminded me of a poptart or an apple pie from McDonlald's. Well a low fat/low calorie version anyway. You get two crisps in the pack so you feel like you're getting a real treat! Orville Redenbacher's 100 Calorie Mini Smart Cakes

I do not like rice cakes or anything that closely resembles them. Usually they're pretty bland and if I want a salty snack I will just eat potato chips. If I want something sweet, I will eat a low calorie cookie. Well just imagine my surprise after tasting the cheddar flavor of Orville Redenbacher's snacks. These popcorn cakes are so tasty! And only 100 calories! You can really taste the cheddar on each cake and it makes you feel like you are eating real chips. The serving size is 21g or about 15 cakes and they come in a box with six bags. Each serving has 100 calories, 3.5 grams of fat, 1 gram of dietary fiber and 180 milligrams of sodium. Not bad at all!

I love cheesecake like nobody's business. It is my absolute favorite dessert. I love it plain with a graham cracker crust. And the filling has to be slightly creamy. mmm - tears are forming in my eyes just thinking about it. Well since I am still trying to lose weight the healthy way I have been looking for a suitable substitute. I don't think Nabisco's 100 calorie Honey Maid Delight bars are it. I tried the Cheesecake bars but they also have a Chocolate version. The bar had a graham cracker "crust" with a cheesecake "filling" and it had icing drizzled on it. If I'm going to have a sweet treat I probably won't choose this but maybe every once in a while.

I am in looooove!!!

I love pizza and I love anything spicy, so imagine my delight at finding this South Beach Buffalo Chicken Pizza! It is so good, I forget it's low in calories and fat. It contains a zesty buffalo sauce with seasoned chicken and is slightly hot, but not too much. Oh, and very filling. I'm going to have to come back and post the nutrition information. Have you tried it? Let me know what you think? (photo courtesy of shopwell.com)

Okay, I admit it...

I love love love food. American, Mexican, Chinese, salty snacks, cheesecake - you name it. Only one issue - I am in the process of losing weight - not a whole lot, but enough I need to watch what I eat. So I work out about five times a week - mostly cardio, but I have also changed the way I eat. I have tried everything from low carb to programs counting calories and fat and will have all types of food to review here. I am constantly on the lookout for tasty vittles that are not high in fat, calories or sodium. I have found so many great new products that I wanted to share! Hope you enjoy and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or suggestions!
